Frequently asked questions

What is TRX?

TRX — or Total Resistance Exercises — is a form of training using suspension equipment developed by a former US Navy SEAL. Using both gravity and your own bodyweight, TRX takes familiar exercises and redevelops them into a brand new workout.

What are the benefits of a TRX class?

With the help of the suspension trainer, a TRX class is a great combination of cardio and strength training. The versatile class will engage muscles all over your body and will always keep you guessing. Plus, being suspended means that there’ll be a much lower impact on your joint.

What can I expect from a TRX class?

The most surprising thing about a TRX class is that you’ll find you’re already familiar with a lot of the moves. However, the introduction of TRX straps takes exercises like squats and lunges and makes them feel like a fresh workout. It can take a little bit of time to get used to a TRX suspension trainer, but your instructor will show you adjustments you can make to your posture to help you get the hang of things.

How many calories can you burn in a TRX class?

On average, a one-hour TRX class could burn between 300 and 500 calories. However, the exact amount varies on your build and how much effort you put into your workouts.

Do I need to have experience?

No, you’ll learn what you need to in the class. Using a TRX suspension trainer may appear daunting, but with the help of your instructor, you’ll learn to control your body weight and will be able to handle the moves.
